Electronic vs digital signature
An electronic signature is any mark that shows you agreed, such as a typed name or a signature image. A digital signature uses a certificate to prove who signed and show whether the file changed.
Electronic signature
This is the broad category. It covers a drawn signature, a typed name or a ticked box. It records your intent, but on its own it doesn't prove who you are.
Digital signature
This is a technical method. A certificate issued to you is tied to the document, so software can check who signed and detect any later change.
Which one does Rivmu add?
Sign PDF adds a visual electronic signature: an image on the page. It has no certificate, no identity check and no audit trail, so it isn't a certified or verified digital signature.
Which do you need?
Rules differ by country and document. Everyday forms often accept a simple signature, while courts, tenders and official filings may not. Ask whoever requested your signature. This guide isn't legal advice.
