Sign a PDF

Sign a PDF in your browser: draw your signature, type it or upload a photo of it, then drag it into place. This adds a visual signature, not a certified one.

Accepted: .pdf. Up to 300 MB per file.

Your files stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded.

How to sign a PDF

  1. Add your PDF.
  2. Draw, type or upload your signature, then press Use this signature.
  3. Drag it into place, press Start and download the signed file.

Add signature to PDF pages in three ways

Draw with your finger, a stylus or a mouse. Type your name and we'll set it in a handwritten style. Or upload a photo of your signature on white paper, and we'll take out the white background. Drawn and typed signatures come in black or blue. You can also add today's date and typed text, such as your printed name or initials.

What this signature is, and what it isn't

This tool places an image of your signature on the page. It's meant for everyday paperwork that only needs a simple signature, such as a permission slip or a delivery note. It isn't a certified or verified digital signature: there's no certificate, no identity check and no audit trail. If you're told you need one of those, use a certified signing service.

Your signature stays on your device

Your PDF and your signature never leave your browser. We don't save the signature either, so it's gone when you close the tab, and you'll make a new one next time.

Sign PDF free: the limits

You can sign as many documents as you like, up to 300 MB each, or 100 MB on a phone. Password-protected files need the password removed first. If a PDF already carries a certified digital signature, any change will make that signature show as invalid, so check before you add yours.

Questions people ask

Can I sign a PDF for free?

Yes. There's no account, no watermark and no limit on documents.

Is this signature legally binding?

That depends on the document, the country and who receives it, so we can't promise it will be accepted. Ask the person who sent you the document if you're unsure. This isn't legal advice.

Can I sign more than one page?

Yes. Go to another page and press Add to this page.

Can someone change the PDF after I sign it?

Yes. A visual signature doesn't lock the file or reveal later edits. Flatten PDF in Everything mode turns pages into images, which makes editing harder, but that isn't tamper protection.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Draw with your finger, then drag the signature into place.
