How to crop a PDF

  1. Add your PDF.
  2. Drag the box over the area to keep, and pick the pages if you don't want them all.
  3. Press Start and download the cropped file.

When cropping helps

Trim the wide margins of a scanned book so it's easier to read on a phone. Cut a scan down to the paper's edge. Keep only the part of a slide or a plan you need. Use the arrows above the page to check how the crop looks on other pages.

What cropping does

The page size changes to the box you drew, so viewers, printers and other apps show only that area. The content outside is hidden, not deleted, so don't rely on cropping to remove private details. For that, run the cropped file through Flatten PDF in Everything mode.

Formats and limits

It takes one PDF up to 300 MB, or 100 MB on a phone. The crop is measured in percent, so pages of different sizes are cropped in proportion. Password-protected files need the password removed first.

Questions people ask

Does cropping lose quality?

No. Text stays selectable and images keep their resolution.

Can I crop each page differently?

Not in one go. Choose some pages, crop them, then run the result again for the others.

Is the cut-off content gone?

It's hidden, but still in the file. Flatten PDF in Everything mode removes it for good.
